OUR MIND: CONSCIOUS AND SUBCONSCIOUS
OUR MIND: CONSCIOUS AND SUBCONSCIOUS
Our mind is our greatest tool in the fulfillment of our life’s true purpose and chief goal. It is the home and birthplace to all of our thoughts, feelings, and imagination. It has two important but distinct functions. We all have a conscious mind and a subconscious mind. They both play a big role in shaping our reality and our ability to manifest what we want (or do not want) to see in our reality, (we more often than not manifest by default, realities we do not want). However, if we want to experience life the way the Creator intended for us to experience it, then we must learn and understand the way our mind functions.
Our conscious mind is the mind that relies on reason and logic/intellect.
Our conscious mind is the mind that relies on reason and logic/intellect.
Its source is in the physical senses. All it knows, gathers, analyses, understand, distinguishes, accepts, rejects, decides, believes or does not believe, is in correlation to what it sees, hears, tastes, touches, and smells. Thus, our intellectual reasoning and comprehension are based on experiences and information that are drawn and deduced from our physical senses. It is the part of our mind that is linked to the outer world, to matter/materialism and the physical world. The conscious mind controls the actions we take or choose not to take when we are in a conscious /awake state, such as walking, talking, dancing, eating, driving etc…
Our conscious mind also controls and guards what we accept as true or not true, and what it decides to keep or reject, believe or not. Our beliefs or disbeliefs originate at the conscious level. The conscious mind is the guardian of what is allowed into the subconscious mind. As such, our conscious mind acts like a filter of what the subconscious mind believes or not. The conscious mind has the ability to induce and deduce. It draws conclusions and forms opinions based on facts it has gathered through the physical senses. Our conscious mind is also known as our physical self or ego self. It looks outward to the physical realm to find and search for, meaning, answers and solutions to issues, seeming difficulties, life’s events, situations, circumstances or challenges.
Our subconscious mind, on the other hand, is the home to all our memories, and past experiences, it records and stores the story of our life as told by our conscious mind. The subconscious mind can only deduce, and as such, it only has access to what is already in its storehouse of memories, information, and beliefs. It has no access to new information, it has no power to know the truth from non-truth, or good from non-good, or to induce any conclusion based on its own opinion or choice. It cannot reject or accept any belief that is not already within its reservoir of beliefs or non-beliefs.
Our subconscious mind is our creative mind.
Our subconscious mind is our creative mind.
Thus, its power is not to reason or use intellect, but to create by using emotions and feelings, as the gage, to know if it must follow the request of our conscious mind. Our reality always mirrors the predominant beliefs that are held within our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind does not look outside of itself to know what to do but rather within itself.
The subconscious mind is the link to the God within us, our Inner God.
The subconscious mind is the link to the God within us, our Inner God.
It is our connection and access to the Divine Intelligence that knows everything, that is Infinite and Limitless and that resides within our subconscious mind. It is the home to our spiritual self and our Godly soul. When our Divine Intelligence or Spiritual-self need to communicate with our conscious mind the path it will follow is through our subconscious mind. (Some experts call this Divine Intelligence, the Superconscious mind or the Unconscious Mind and refer to it as a separate third function of the mind. In practice, whether we refer to it as part of the subconscious mind or as a separate function of the mind, the essence, meaning, and power of this mind function remain the same.)
The subconscious mind is the part of our mind that is responsible for all of our automatic and involuntary actions, such as digesting, breathing, and our heart beating. It is also the home to our intuitive powers and Inner Knowing. Our gut feeling or sixth sense originate in the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is in charge of creating our desires, but it will only create for us if it feels that our request is truly what we want.
To know if it is what we truly want it turns to the storehouse of memories and beliefs within to find a matching belief to our present request (it searches our past, as far back as when we were babies). If it deduces that there is no conflict between the present conscious desire and the subconscious beliefs it holds within, then it will have no choice but to manifest and create our desired reality. Since in theory, it must follow the order given by the commander i.e. the conscious mind, (however, in practice this only happens when there is no conflict between what the commander/conscious mind asks or believes today and what it believed in the past and that is still to be found in the storehouse of our subconscious mind).
When the subconscious mind encounters a conflict between the conscious belief of our request and the subconscious beliefs held in our bank of memories, the old subconscious beliefs win, they have precedence.
This means that the subconscious mind will not create for us what we consciously want and request, and further, it will use all its arsenal of beliefs to give us the evidence to support why it won’t manifest for us. It is convinced that it is not really what we desire since it goes against the limited beliefs that are still stored within our subconscious mind. The fact that we want something on a conscious level is not sufficient for our subconscious mind to create it for us or through us.
In order to create for us, our subconscious mind needs to be cleared and freed of the limited beliefs that are held within its memory bank, and blocking it from manifesting what we want on a conscious level. The subconscious mind has no power to know that we no longer believe something or that we truly want this desire. In practice, this means, the subconscious mind will not go against itself, and the beliefs that are still stored in its bank of memories. The paradox lies in the fact that even though, we no longer believe in many of the limiting beliefs that are still lodged in our subconscious mind, they are blocking us from moving forward and changing our reality. Often time we are not consciously aware that these beliefs are there or we have not taken any conscious action to change or eliminate them. As long as nothing changes the result is always going to be an inability to manifest a new desired reality.
It is crucial to understand the role and function as well as workings of the mind in order to start using this super powerful tool in a positive and constructive way. We must adopt new beliefs and work on replacing and removing the old unwanted and harmful ones. Our mind can make wonders for us or when not used properly can also be destructive and the source of much pain.
Our main and recurring thoughts create our beliefs.
Our main and recurring thoughts create our beliefs.
Thus, these beliefs, i.e. our predominant thinking patterns, (the things we think of and believe most) create our reality. Thus, our reality is a direct product of our habitual thinking patterns. Since our thoughts originate in our conscious mind, we must consciously choose to think about what we want, we need to flood our mind with thoughts of positivity and feel good emotions in order to experience a change in our reality.
But when we have no control over our thoughts or when we let our mind and thoughts wander, it leads to the invasion of predominantly negative and unorganized random thoughts. This loss of mind control is what stops the subconscious mind from manifesting what we desire.
We must develop a mental discipline and choose positivity.
We must develop a mental discipline and choose positivity.
The goal is to stir and direct our main thoughts away from negativity or what we do not want. We cannot create a wanted reality by concentrating on what we do not want. But rather, when we focus and concentrate on what we do want and when we adopt a positive consciousness and frame of mind, we are able to see positive changes in our reality. When we take charge and guide our thoughts in the right direction, the feeling and emotions that ensue are positive and good, thus, the subconscious mind feels this new Truth and manifests a reality to match.
When people first meet us they meet our conscious self.
When people first meet us they meet our conscious self.
Our surface self is the self that deals with our day to day life. The paradox lies in the fact that our conscious mind seems to run and control our lives, but in reality, it only has 5 to 10 % of our mind power/activity. The actual power of our mind lies within the subconscious mind and our access to Divine Intelligence (i.e. the Unconscious/Superconscious part of the Subconscious mind).
Many experts refer to this paradox as the master-servant analogy. In Divine order, the truth is, that the conscious mind is the servant and the subconscious is the master. However, in practice, for most people the servant has become the master (thus, we believe that the only way to function is when the conscious mind is in control of our lives) and on the other hand, the master lost its place and became the servant (the subconscious, Spiritual self is now only a supplement or fill in, for times when things do not work out with the conscious mind in charge. Thus, when our ego-self is helpless and unable to deal with the situation, only then do we turn to the subconscious mind and the higher self for help).
90 to 95 % of our mind power lies within our Subconscious mind and our Inner Self.
90 to 95 % of our mind power lies within our Subconscious mind and our Inner Self.
It is truly unfortunate that most people have no awareness of the fact that all the power is within their subconscious mind, and do not tap into this vast pool of power and intelligence. In our subconscious mind, we find Infinite Wisdom, Infinite Power, Infinite Knowledge and all that we need to live happily and on course with our Divine purpose. Our Inner God is available to help and guide and bless and fulfill all of our needs, one must only connect to the Source or Power. Everyone with no exception, no difference, no distinction has access to this Source and Infinite Supply, to God within.
The reality is that most people overlook this Truth and look outward for guidance, direction, help or answers. Thus, most of us will experience a bumpy life path of ups and downs, of struggles and hardships. The path of least resistance, the Godly path remains unknown to most people. Only the ones that understand the paradox (master/servant or soul/ego or spiritual self/physical self or subconscious/ conscious) can remedy the situation, by changing their ways, and actually serving and connecting to the ‘Master’ our subconscious mind, God within.
When we want to know the Truth, when we want to grow and be better, we discover, we connect, and we live to be close and to serve the Creator, God. We also start to look within ourselves to where our true power is, to our Inner God. When we give the subconscious mind its rightful and central place and when we choose to live a more spiritual life, we are living our Godly purpose and we have access to all the treasures found within us.
Our soul’s journey is to live a spiritual life, and the physical body and our physical reality, are only temporary garments to the soul.
Our soul’s journey is to live a spiritual life, and the physical body and our physical reality, are only temporary garments to the soul.
Thus, this temporary reality does not alter the eternal goal and purpose of our soul. A soul’s purpose is to live connected to the Creator, its life force and power are from being part and one with God. When the soul is in a physical body, the way it connects to God and fulfills its mission is through the medium of our subconscious mind. Thus, when we live a life that is detached and distant from our Inner God, our soul and our physical purpose are not in sync and are unable to fulfill their mission and purpose on earth.
The further we are from a spiritual life or to put it differently, the more attached we are to this temporary material world, the less connected we are to our true purpose and reason for being.
The further we are from a spiritual life or to put it differently, the more attached we are to this temporary material world, the less connected we are to our true purpose and reason for being.
Some people realize this Truth early in life, some later and some may need a few lifetimes. The ones that are blessed and fortunate to discover and experience this Truth and live in that reality, are able to experience true earthly bliss, peace, happiness, love, success, and prosperity. They are able to make a difference in this world, their existence has meaning, their energy is positive and they influence people to be better. The world is better thanks to their existence. They are kind and compassionate, they inspire and motivate. They love and help, they see God in everything and everyone. They are able to forgive and let go of negative energies, thoughts, and feelings. They lead by example. They control their mind and create their reality.
